A HUGE DAY FOR US

40 years of matrimonial bliss. Well, most of the time. I spent no expense on a sea-view table, an entree of grilled cheese followed by a 5 star chilli con carne, mixed with the finest chateau cardboard Chardy. What a spoilt woman she is.

Headed off from our one sheep town after pulling out our trusty generator (aka “Harry Honda”) and after blacking out the boat several times we got the coffee machine brewing and had a great coffee albeit with a 90 db hum to enhance the serenity.

Motored initially then put up the sails for a nice reach with 2 reefs and 20-27 kt breeze. The boat definitely likes sail over motor in choppy seas. We had our first collision at sea. We hit a plank earlier at 6 knots and broke in two, but I don’t think it’s damaged us.

After scratching around we eventually anchored off Monasterace. The fish pots were like a minefield but we got lucky. We’ve been continually on the boat for five days now. Nice nights sleep off the beach.
